Sightseeing & Exploration
The list of places to see and where to explore is virtually endless with every island having its own unique scenery and culture.
The obvious place to start would be the outer islands with just a few listed here:
- Sewa-I-Lau caves
- Blue Lagoon
- Villages and their culture
- Bird Life
- Amazing Beaches
- Hill top scenery
- Walks on the Islands
With all the variety expressed in each island it is difficult to select any one as the best as all are different and unique. Take Waya and the view from the hill top overlooking the main island of Viti Levu, a challenging hike but worth the effort.
On the main island of Viti Levu the waterfalls, villages, markets for fruit and clothing and even tropical gardens like those of the Sleeping Giant are all colourful and very Fiji in style. There are the obvious tourist attractions and some are well worth a visit but in our opinion the outer islands are best place to see Fiji.
It is on the outer islands where the real jewel can be found, the underwater life with the reef fish and mantas along with the exquisite coral formations. There is just so much fringing coral it is hard to believe that more than 10% has ever been snorkeled or dived on so a great opportunity to explore awaits.
Often overlooked is the night sky which is as clear as anywhere in the world. With no pollution and low ambient light Fiji is a dream for star gazers.
There are three sorts of people; those who are alive, those who are dead, and those who are at sea.
